No Country...and the Face of Mortality

Was there ever a more intense and disturbing scene of dread?  There isn't any violence in this scene, but it is there in every detail and every breath.  Like a coiled snake beneath a pile of leaves on an autumn day, the quotidian becomes sinister.  It's that moment when you realize how fragile you are.  It's that moment when you realize exactly how easily this store you married into can be taken from you. It's that unending moment when you realize how fleeting life is.  It's that moment when you realize that this life of yours is tissue thin when compared with the madness you are facing.
The Coen Brothers are experts at this sort of thing and this scene is a master class.
